We are honoured to be able to ring for weddings at Tring church

We are honoured to ring for weddings at St Peter & St Paul’s Church, Tring.

Church bells have marked weddings, celebrations and important moments in the life of the town for centuries. If you are planning your wedding at Tring church, the sound of the bells can be a memorable and joyful part of the day.

The ringers of St Peter & St Paul are proud to continue Tring’s long tradition of bellringing. There have been bells in the parish church since at least 1552, and today the tower has eight bells, ranging in weight from around 300kg to more than 900kg.

Bellringing is a skilled team activity. For a wedding, bells are traditionally rung for around half an hour after the service, usually by a band of six or eight ringers. The ringers arrive in advance to prepare the bells and then ring out as you and your guests leave the church.

Although the bells and fittings have changed over time, the sound you hear on your wedding day is part of a tradition that would have been familiar to generations of people in Tring.

If you would like to see the bells and watch some ringing before your wedding, we would be very happy to welcome you to the tower on a Tuesday evening between 8.00pm and 9.00pm.

We hope that, amid all the excitement of your day, you and your guests will have a moment to pause and enjoy the sound of Tring’s historic bells ringing out in celebration of your marriage.
